About the School

The operation of the Eklavya Model Residential School, Bojhiya, Bahraich has been approved by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. Primarily, the school is established for the Tharu tribal community residing in the tehsil and development block—Mihinpurwa of Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh, which has a population of 11,159. It also caters to the children of tribal parents residing in nearby districts. The aim is the holistic development of tribal boys and girls through quality and employment-oriented education, enabling success in administrative services, medical, engineering, IIT, army, police, education, and civil service examinations. Following the guidelines of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, the Uttar Pradesh Government intends to affiliate the school with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. However, due to delays in the appointment of personnel by the government and non-fulfillment of board standards, the affiliation process could not be initiated. As per the decision taken in the meeting of the U.P. Scheduled Tribes Economic and Educational Development Committee, the school has been operational in the Eklavya Model Residential School premises since the academic session 2016–17, with classes from 6th to 8th, each having an intake of 15 boys and 15 girls, totaling 30 students per class. Eklavya Model Residential School, Bojhiya, Bahraich is being run by the Tribal Development Department, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh under the guidelines of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India for the educational upliftment of Scheduled Tribes. The school was established on 4th July 2016 to provide quality education to tribal students.

Location

Eklavya Model Residential School, Bojhiya, is located in the Katarniaghat Range of Uttar Pradesh, approximately 95 kilometers from the district headquarters and 22 kilometers from Mihinpurwa Tehsil. It is situated in a region predominantly inhabited by the Tharu tribe. The climate here is humid subtropical, the soil is sandy, and the water contains arsenic. The total campus area of the school is 8.1 hectares (approximately 20 acres).

Administrative Setup

The entire financial arrangement for the general functioning of Eklavya Model Residential School is made by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. The school management/executive committee is constituted under the chairmanship of the Principal Secretary of Social Welfare and Scheduled Tribe Development, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Based on the decisions taken in periodic meetings, the Directorate of Tribal Development, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow oversees the school's administration and functioning.
